There are hundreds of organizations that will offer you counseling on your credit problems and debt issues. Organizations such as the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) has branches all over the USA and in the UK the Consumer Credit Counseling Service will help you budget your monthly income and outgoings as well as help you negotiate your repayments.

To benefit from the service you will need to make sacrifices this means that you can not expect to have built into your budget gym memberships, holidays and that new pair of shoes that you feel you must have. Think about what would be better having the shoes or being able to say that you can buy the shoes because you are no longer in debt?

You will need to look at your monthly income and if there are two of you in the house then you will need to include your partners income as well as your own. Any benefits that you receive, basically any payment of any kind needs to be included in your personal budget.

They will give you ways to increase your income, not all of them may be to your liking but lets face it if you want to get horrible feeling of something hanging over your head out of the way then sacrifice now is a small price to pay.
